2024 New Years Resolution

January 1, 2024

As the new year approaches, it’s a time for reflection and renewal. 2023 was a remarkable year for our family, filled with milestones, adventures, and personal growth. With gratitude for the past, I’m excited to set my sights on new goals for 2024, centered around nurturing relationships, health, and creativity.

1. Becoming a Better Husband and Father:
My top priority is to improve my role as a husband and father. I want to create more opportunities for my wife, Molly, to focus on her well-being and pursue her interests. This includes taking on more of the cooking responsibilities and planning regular Father-Daughter outings with Iris. By spending more quality time with my daughter, I am also enabling Molly to have some much-deserved self-care time.

2. Prioritizing Health and Wellness:
In 2024, I’m committed to prioritizing my health holistically. Recognizing the observations made by my lola and aunt about my weight gain, I’m taking steps to address it. I’ve rejoined basketball, a sport that I consider my 1st love growing up, and invested in a new pair of Kobe Mamba shoes for further motivation (Mamba mentality lol). Additionally, I’m reducing my daily coffee intake and introducing more matcha into my diet as well as reducing eating out, promoting a healthier balance.

3. Continuing My Photography Journey:
Photography has always been a passion of mine, and I’m eager to delve deeper into this creative journey in 2024. Last year, I reached out to friends who fit my creative vision, but I didn’t follow through. This year, I’m determined to take it more seriously, building my portfolio and honing my skills as a photographer. Photography has always been something like a lightening rod for me, it’s my go-to that makes me feel centered and whole.

4. Finding Balance in Social Media Consumption:
While social media can be an invaluable tool for connecting with others and staying informed, I’ve realized that excessive doom scrolling has led me to waste time being unproductive. In 2024, I aim to be more mindful of my social media usage, setting a daily limit of 1 hour for Instagram. By reducing my screen time, I hope to create more space for productive activities, catch up on the movies, books and games I’ve put off, and focus on connecting with Iris.

New Year’s Resolutions are often seen as cliched and prone to failure, but I believe that they serve a valuable purpose in setting goals, aiming for improvement, and striving to become a better version of ourselves. Even if there are setbacks or missed targets, the process of setting goals and working towards them is a worthwhile endeavor. Hoping that I come out of 2024 a better version of myself!
